Wagners is set to boost its fleet after winning a $33 million contract to haul zinc and lead concentrate for Glencore’s McArthur River Mining.

The contract covers haulage services from the McArthur River Mine in the Northern Territory to the Bing Bong Loading Facility and Mount Isa Mines.

The company said up to 3 million tonnes of materials would be loaded and transported between the mine site, the Bing Bong Loading Facility and the Mount Isa processing facility over a three-year term.

The haulage services will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the term with haulage services
planned to commence in December 2021.

Wagners also holds the haulage contract for Glencore’s George Fisher and Lady Loretta mines in North-West Queensland.

“Wagners has a long-standing relationship with Glencore and is very grateful to be provided with the opportunity to service the McArthur River Mine operations in the delivery of these haulage services, which is a new project for us,” Wagners chief executive officer Cameron Coleman said.

“This project will provide many employment opportunities throughout both the Northern Territory and Queensland and will require substantial capital investment to increase our haulage fleet, demonstrating Wagners’ commitment to this area of our business and the resources sector.

Established in 1989 in Toowoomba, Queensland, Wagners is an ASX-listed business that produces cement, concrete, aggregates, and composite products. The business also provides transport services, precast concrete and reinforcing steel.
