The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has opened applications for the $2 billion Hydrogen Headstart program. Projects seeking to produce renewable hydrogen or derivatives at scale can apply for a production credit delivered over 10 years to bridge the gap between the cost of producing renewable hydrogen and the market price. "This is the Australian Government’s largest investment in renewable hydrogen to date and a critical step in unlocking Australia’s renewable energy superpower,” ARENA chief executive officer Darren Miller. Perenti managing director and chief executive officer Mark Norwell said the acquisition was a very important milestone in the continued growth and evolution of Perenti. "We are very pleased to welcome the circa 2,000 DDH1 employees, their four highly respected brands of DDH1 Drilling, Strike Drilling, Ranger Drilling and Swick Mining Services along with their expansive client base into the wider Perenti Group," he said. "DDH1 leverages and builds on nearly 40 years of drilling expertise that our Ausdrill brand holds, enabling Perenti to establish a stand-alone Drilling Services Division of significant scale and global relevance. "Perenti is now one of the largest drilling services contractors globally offering a complete range of underground and surface drilling services, including specialisation in deep directional drilling." Metal Bank has raised about $1.5 million in an entitlement offer that closed oversubscribed. The company said it was now well-funded to advance exploration across its copper projects in Jordan, the Livingstone gold project in Western Australia and the Millennium cobalt-copper project in north-west Queensland. Alpha HPA has now satisfied all of the conditions to secure Intellectual Property (IP) rights to the aluminium extraction and refining technology being deployed in Gladstone under the HPA First Project. The company said it had secured the exclusivity of the process IP Licence for the production of all aluminium-bearing products and the right to apply the IP globally (his was previously limited to Australian and North American production centres). A western Queensland quarry operator was fined $630,000 in total and ordered to pay $66,358.90 in royalties plus court costs after pleading guilty in the Queensland Magistrates Court this week to charges under the Water Act. The quarry operator breached the Water Act 2000 with an unauthorised take of quarry materials, non-compliance with the conditions of a Quarry Material Allocation Notice (QMAN) and providing false and misleading information to the State regarding the volume of materials taken. “The department launched an investigation after we received information that suggested a significant volume of material was removed with no regard to protecting the water course," Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water acting deputy director-general Jarrod Cowley-Grimmond said. “Our investigation found a significant amount of quarry materials had been taken from outside the area authorised by the QMAN and that the operator showed little regard for the water course protection conditions contained within the QMAN which provide for the sustainable access to the State’s resources within the watercourse. In addition, it was also found that the operator had provided false information to the State regarding the volume of material that was removed from the site which was more than three times that authorised.” Lendlease Communities has awarded Golding Contractors about $80 million in work at its Shoreline residential development in Redland Bay and Yarrabilba master-planned community 4km south of Logan Village. The contracts cover general subdivision and associated infrastructure works. Golding said work would be delivered over 12 and 24 months respectively, working with its network of subcontractors and suppliers in the south-east Queensland region.
