Parmi-led recovery for Outback venues
How good are Outback parmis? Good enough to have their own Facebook page, for a start.
The Mount Isa Tourism Association has developed an initiative to get people out and about to support the pubs, clubs, roadhouses and cafes of North West Queensland.
The group is encouraging the region’s residents to travel to their next town, or further, in the quest to sample the very best parmigianas the region plates up.
Then it is a simple matter of taking a selfie with their parmi and sharing on the dedicated Outback Pub Parmi Facebook page – HERE.
People are also encouraged to note how many kilometres they have traveled for their golden-crumbed delight.
The page was set up to encourage locals to support the region’s hospitality businesses as COVID-19 restrictions took their toll on the Outback tourism season.
“We can’t rely on the interstate market, which is usually a massive part of our industry through the season,” Mount Isa Tourism Association board member Kylie Rixon said.
The tourism association is hoping the quirky nature of the promotion will tempt parmi samplers from further afield as travel restrictions ease – with add-on benefits to local communities as those diners add a coldie to their order, visit local sites and stay in town for the night.
