Heritage Minerals has opened expressions of interest for businesses to supply processing equipment for the Mount Morgan tailings processing and rehabilitation project.

The company is advancing a $100 million project expected to produce 60,000 ounces of gold and 5000 tonnes of copper each year at the historical Mount Morgan mine site in Central Queensland.

The expressions of interest cover liquid oxygen tanks, a leach reactor, interstage screen package, elution heater and heat exchanger, process and solution pumps, fabricated columns and internal parts.

Further items include a precipitate thickener, flocculant system, pressure filter smelting furnace, exhaust fans, gold room vault and scale, conveyor package, air compressor and dryer system, vacuum system, gold room scrubber, fuel system, hoists, RO potable water system, non metal tanks, safety shower and eye wash, drying oven, fire water pump package, inline mixer and cyanide analyser.

Mining operations at Mount Morgan closed in 1990 and the abandoned mine has since been managed by the Queensland Government.

Heritage Minerals’ proposed tailings processing plant at Mount Morgan will treat two million tonnes of tailings a year.

The project is expected to support about 250 new direct construction jobs and up to 150 operational jobs.

It is forecast to bring economic and social benefits for the wider Rockhampton region totalling an estimated $849 million.

The project has funding support from the Queensland Government and a $66 million Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility loan.
