Deal close on Anglo’s Bowen Basin coal portfolio

Anglo American expects to reach a deal on the sale of its steelmaking coal business in this quarter, according to chief executive officer Duncan Wanblad.

He was commenting as the company released its quarterly production report yesterday, showing a 31 per cent drop in production across its Queensland coal mines to 1.5 million tonnes.

This was primarily due to significant weather impacts at Dawson and lower production from Moranbah North as it continued a phased return to operations following an ignition event in March last year.

It was uncertainty over the timeline for that mine coming back online that. . .
