Rockhampton-based company Manuplex has won a significant work package under the Australian Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI).

It was awarded by Site Solutions, a subsidiary of Laing O’Rourke – who are administering ASMTI project at Shoalwater Bay training area north of Rockhampton.

The Manuplex contract involves the design and installation of temporary top tier administrative precincts (B &C Site Compounds) within the training reserve.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said Advance Rockhampton, council’s economic development arm, had been working with Manuplex for more than a year.

“First off we worked to create the right environment to bring businesses here, and we were delighted when Manuplex returned to the region in February 2019,” she said.

“They then began a major refurbishment of their Kawana site, using local workers and suppliers.

“Through Advance Rockhampton we have also rolled out training workshops, highlighted supply chain opportunities, delivered capacity building programs and held special briefing sessions.

“These have paid dividends for Manuplex who have grown all divisions of their business across mining, construction and engineering, will be expanding the premises and employing more staff.”

Manuplex director Matt Jurkic said the ASMTI project meant the business could take on an extra 10 employees – bringing its total to 78.

It would also pass the benefits on to other local businesses through subcontracting, he said.

“The backing from Rockhampton Regional Council has been invaluable. The Advance Rockhampton team have been very supportive and have been right behind us from the start.

“I definitely see a bright future for our own and other businesses here in the Rockhampton region.”
