Answers needed to address infrastructure shortfalls

CopperString notwithstanding, Commerce North West president Emma Harman said answers were needed to three other long-standing issues being roads, rail and water.

CopperString is due to start conducting electricity to the North West Minerals Province by 2032. In the meantime, investors were left wanting, Ms Harman said.

It was well established that the road system was below standards and the railway fell short of effectively servicing the region’s miners, she said.

There had lately been a concerted effort to lobby for more water storage, Ms Harman said.
