Navarre highlights Mount Carlton growth potential

Outstanding drill results from the past year point to the potential for a satellite mining area just west of the Mount Carlton processing plant, new owner Navarre Minerals says.

The Mount Carlton United prospect has delivered intercepts of up to 67.2 g/t gold, 1954 g/t silver and 11.9 per cent copper.

“The company is extremely pleased with the tenor and width of the high-grade gold, silver and copper results returned from shallow drilling on the Mount Carlton United prospect during 2021," Navarre managing director Ian Holland said. . .

Evolution firms grip on potential Mount Carlton feed

Evolution Mining has secured complete ownership of the Crush Creek project after drill results demonstrating its potential to extend the life of the nearby Mount Carlton gold operation.

Evolution entered into an earn-in agreement with Basin Gold last year over the Crush Creek project, 30km south-east of the Mount Carlton mining and processing operation.

Evolution has now achieved the requirement of sole funding $7 million of exploration expenditure to earn a 70 per cent interest in the project.

It is paying $4.5 million to acquire the remaining 30 per cent of the project from Basin Gold, which. . .

Crush Creek encouragement for Evolution’s NQ future

Evolution Mining has reported encouraging assay results from several holes at the Crush Creek project, 30km south-east of its Mount Carlton mine.

The site is viewed as holding the potential to provide mine life extensions at Mount Carlton - carrying particular weight after a major resource blow at that site.

Evolution Mining last month announced that it had been forced to drop about 75,000 ounces of gold from its Mount Carlton life of mine plan after an extensive grade control infill program there.

Drilling commenced at Crush Creek in the June quarter with the aim of confirming and expanding. . .

Resource blow for Evolution at Mount Carlton

Evolution Mining has been forced to drop about 75,000 ounces of gold from its Mount Carlton life of mine plan.

It follows an extensive grade control infill program of 204 drill holes (33,000m) to update the North Queensland site's resource block model.

Evolution is now looking at ways to maximise the future value of the asset, including work on the nearby Crush Creek Joint Venture project, which it sees as having the potential to be an important source of ore feed.

Evolution has reduced its 2020 financial year production guidance at Mount Carlton from 70,000–75. . .

Edinburgh Park surveys reveal large gold targets

Great Southern Mining has identified large epithermal gold targets at its Edinburgh Park project, adjacent to the Mount Carlton mining operation in North Queensland.

The results emerged after a cofunding, data-sharing agreement with Mount Carlton owner Evolution Mining to undertake regional airborne hyperspectral imagery surveys over the area.

Great Southern says the hyperspectral results and interpretation have reinforced field observations at a number of known prospects such as Fish Creek and Mt Dillon, and identified many new significant high-sulphidation hydrothermal centers or ‘hot spots’.

The prospects show geological similarities to the Mount Carlton deposit and the broader mineralised. . .

Mount Carlton transformation underway

Construction
has started on a $60 million project set to extend mining operations at the Mount
Carlton gold site in North Queensland to at least 2025.

Contractor Redpath is expected to start decline development in July or August for a new underground mine at the Evolution Mining operation, 150 km south-east of Townsville.

However,
Mt Carlton general manager Anton Kruger said work was already well underway on
supporting infrastructure such as pads for equipment, laydown areas, and
installation of services including power, water and ventilation required for
underground operations.
