Seaside challenge for those who like to work up a sweat

The Magnetic Island Triathlon is being held this Sunday (July 19), with 100 athletes expected to participate under COVID-19 safe rules.

The event includes a sprint triathlon and a shorter 'enticer' circuit as well as a junior course.

They are being run out of the Peppers Blue on Blue resort and over a stunning course designed to showcase the island and its beauty.

"The scenery, the views of Townsville, the course really makes it special. That's what sets it apart," says triathlon co-organiser Stephen Tetley.

New option for effortless island escape

A new tourism venture is offering visitors to Magnetic Island another way to experience its natural beauty.

The Beach Club Magnetic Island offers guests a chauffeured boat transfer to one of the island’s 23 secluded beaches and bays, along with a gourmet picnic hamper and accessories including shade and beach games.

The venture has been launched by Clare and Paul Ley from Pilgrim Sailing, working with executive chef Dan Blakeman of Saltwater Magnetic Island, Nelly Bay.
