Townsville City Council has formally adopted an amendment to its planning scheme to create the new Lansdown industrial precinct at Calcium, near Woodstock.

It paves the way for a raft of major projects that have earmarked the area for their developments including Imperium3 Townsville's $3 billion lithium-ion battery plant and Pure Minerals' $554 million Townsville Energy Chemicals Hub (TECH).

Land deal for Townsville battery chemicals plant

A site in the Lansdown Industrial Precinct at Woodstock has been earmarked to build a $415 million battery chemicals plant.

Pure Minerals says it has secured a conditional commitment from Townsville City Council for the land for the TECH (Townsville Energy Chemicals Hub) Project.

The area, 40km west of Townsville, is being rezoned as a strategic high impact industrial zone.

The Imperium3 consortium's planned battery plant would also be located at the Lansdown precinct.

Townsville City Council sought proposals from potential business partners in a tender process that closed on 10 July.
