Iltani expands Herberton ground to build a silver-indium district

Iltani Resources (ASX: ILT) has moved to expand its North Queensland footprint, applying for new ground around its Orient silver-indium project near Herberton.

The company said it had lodged applications for three exploration permits during the June quarter and was named the priority applicant for each in a competitive process.

The permits — Silver Dollar, Sand Creek and Cherry Creek — target silver, indium, lead, zinc and gold, and Iltani expects them to be granted within a year.

Maiden resource out for Orient East silver-indium site

Iltani Resources has announced a maiden resource for its Orient East silver-indium deposit, hot on the heels of the QIC committing $8 million towards the potential critical minerals development.

The mineral resource estimate for Orient East stands at 19.8Mt at 98g/t silver equivalent (using a 30g/t silver equivalent cut-off grade).

It takes the total mineral resource estimate for the Orient project, in the Herberton area, to 62.5Mt at 81.5g/t Ag Eq. (30g/t Ag Eq. cut-off grade).

Croydon project reveals indium potential

A fresh look at samples from Crater Gold Mining's Croydon polymetallic project in North-West Queensland has revealed high levels of the critical mineral indium.

The company has released results showing very high indium assaysup to 190.0 ppm.

These were obtained from the re-assay of six selected intervals fromthree drill holes drilled in 2006/07 at 'Anomaly A2' at the polymetallic project, Crater said.

A very high silver value of 2250 g/t (0.225 per cent) was alsoobtained from a 0.75m interval from a drillhole.

High-grade silver shows as Red River hits Orient

Red River Resources has reported high-grade silver results from sampling at the Orient silver-indium prospect near Herberton, North Queensland.

The company said it had conducted initial reconnaissance sampling, taking 16 samples at East Orient and eight samples at West Orient.

The East Orient sampling returned assays up to 1365 g/t silver, 444 g/tindium, 25.8 per cent lead and 18.7 per cent zinc.

West Orient sampling returned assays up to 1730 g/t silver, 356 g/t indium, 39.1 per cent lead and 32.1 per cent zinc.

Red River secures polymetallic silver-indium deposits

Red River Resources has been granted two new polymetallic projects hosting the highest-grade known indium deposits in Australia.

It comes as the company was this week announced as the recipient of a $190,000 Collaborative Exploration Initiative grant for work focused on indium in the Herberton region.

Geoscience Australia and strategic partners of Australia including the European Union, France, Japan, Korea, India and the United Kingdom have defined indium as a critical mineral.

It is a critical element in CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenide) thin film solar cells.

The Isabel project contains the Isabel polymetallic massive sulphide zinc-lead. . .

Indium on the radar in new exploration grants round

A hunt for indium near old Herberton district mine workings is among the projects to win a share of almost $4 million in the latest round of Collaborative Exploration Initiative (CEI) grants.

Red River Resources is among the 24 companies receiving State Government support for exploration focused on the new economy minerals required for advanced electronics and renewable technologies.

The funds have been bolstered by the first instalment of a $10 million-plus booster pack announced last month to supercharge exploration and to drive future resources jobs.
