Council plan to transform vacant corner ‘eyesore’
Mount Isa City Council hopes to turn the former Harvey Norman site into a vibrant community space.
The council decided in a meeting this week to acquire the 2024sq m site on the corner of Miles and Grace streets, which has been vacant since a fire two years ago.
“While it has been an eyesore in the Mount Isa CBD for a couple of years, it’s a fairly large corner block and there is so much potential for that particular site,” Mayor Joyce McCulloch said.
“In the near future, we will demolish the existing structures there and afterwards present. . .
