A 17-hole drill program in the upper levels of the Eloise mine in North-West Queensland has highlighted the opportunity for two mineralised zones to extend the copper-gold operation's life.

Mine owner AIC Mines has released new results from the Emerson and 40 Lode areas, where every hole in the recent resource definition and extension drilling intersected high-grade copper mineralisation.

Pybar gears up for Eloise mine contract

Pybar Mining Services is recruiting after winning a development contract at the Eloise copper mine about 60km south-east of Cloncurry.

The company last week announced the award of a Letter of Intent for development works at the North West Queensland mine for FMR Investments.

Jericho JV releases maiden resource estimate

Joint venture partners have announced a maiden inferred mineral resource of 9.1 million tonnes, grading 1.4 per cent copper and 0.3g/t gold, at the Jericho project in North West Queensland.

Jericho is located 65km south-east of Cloncurry and within 3km of the Eloise copper-gold mine. Minotaur Exploration and Oz Minerals are partners in the Jericho JV.

Oz Minerals has undertaken mining optimisation studies using the resource estimate to assess the potential for Jericho to be mined as an underground operation.

Progress towards Eloise copper mine restart

The Queensland Mines Inspectorate says it is reviewing the directive suspending operations at the Eloise copper mine after information provided by the operators today (December 9).

The inspectorate ordered a halt in activity on November 18 due to safety concerns.

A spokeswoman said today it was now allowing limited work to be undertaken underground.

Eloise copper mine owner FMR Investments says it is working closely with the Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy to restart underground mining as quickly as it can.

"To date (6 December 2019) Eloise Copper Mine has not demonstrated to the QMI that the risk to workers is at an acceptable level," a QMI spokeswoman said.

Jericho copper discovery at centre of 21,000m drill campaign

Minotaur has launched a 21,000m drilling campaign at the Jericho copper discovery within the Eloise joint venture project in North-West Queensland.

Two multi-purpose rigs will be utilised, operating 24/7, with drilling planned to a vertical depth of 300m.

Minotaur said 80-90 holes were planned within the central Jericho zone, a portion of a broader mineral system as defined by drilling in 2018.

The drill program is intended to improve geological confidence in lodecontinuity and grade by closing existing hole spacings and is expected to enable estimation of an inaugural JORC resource for that. . .
