Great Southern Mining has discovered a significant, large geochemical soil anomaly at the Leichhardt Creek prospect within its Edinburgh Park gold project.

Chief operating officer Mark Major described the latest results as a significant step toward potentially discovering a Tier-1 deposit.

The company has mapped a vast geochemical alteration system consistent with an Intrusive Related Gold System (IRGS) exhibiting strong associated metal content.

It follows recent mapping and geochemical sampling at the project, which is located near the Mount Carlton gold mine in North Queensland.

Edinburgh Park surveys reveal large gold targets

Great Southern Mining has identified large epithermal gold targets at its Edinburgh Park project, adjacent to the Mount Carlton mining operation in North Queensland.

The results emerged after a cofunding, data-sharing agreement with Mount Carlton owner Evolution Mining to undertake regional airborne hyperspectral imagery surveys over the area.

Great Southern says the hyperspectral results and interpretation have reinforced field observations at a number of known prospects such as Fish Creek and Mt Dillon, and identified many new significant high-sulphidation hydrothermal centers or ‘hot spots’.
