Kobelco Construction Machinery has appointed TRT (Tidd Ross Todd) as its new crane distributor for New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and Fiji.

TRT will provide Kobelco crane customers in the Oceania region with technical information, parts supply, and sales of new Kobelco cranes.  

Announcing the partnership today, TRT said the business was excited to combine TRT’s great customer support and expertise with Kobelco cranes, valued in the industry for their high performance.

Major civil equipment auctions across four sites

Pickles is kicking off 2020 with a raft of four civil equipment auctions with items worth more than $20 million.

The largest of the on-site sales is at Ipswich on February 5, when a large range of earthmoving equipment goes under the hammer from Bachmann Plant Hire, which has gone into administration.

The haul includes 28 scrapers, 14 track dozers, 15 articulated dump trucks, 10 compactors, five graders and seven hydraulic excavators.

Pickles mining division general manager Steve Wall said scrapers were in particularly high demand and the impending auction had drawn good interest.

Piles of progress for Mackay Ring Rd

The $497.3 million Mackay Ring Rd project is on track for completion in late 2020 after passing a number of milestones in recent months.

A Transport and Main Roads spokesman said procurement activities were nearing completion, with subcontracts previously awarded for all major components.

The Mackay Ring Road (Stage 1) involves the construction of 13 bridges, including four water crossings and nine overpass structures.

The department says the last of 462 piles are in place, including those for the new Pioneer River bridge (see footage below).
