R3D looks to expand Chillagoe ground

Newly listed R3D Resources has a secured an exclusivity agreement to purchase the Beefwood project, potentially building on its Chillagoe region tenement package.

The company's local assets include the former Tartana copper operation, where it aims to restart copper sulphate production in 2022.

The Beefwood project (EPM 26399) is strategically positioned within Newcrest Mining’s Bulimba project.

R3D has secured an agreement with Newcrest Mining where it can acquire the Bulimba tenements, covering more than 1250sq km.

Thomson tests the ground for Chillagoe deal

Thomson Resources is due to kick off a soil auger drilling program west of Chillagoe from this week in preliminary explorations for its planned Queensland Gold Project acquisition.

The project comprises six EPMs (Exploration Permit for Minerals), five ofwhich are granted, in an area near the Mungana, Red Dome and King Vol mining operations.

The company says 10 prospects have been prioritised for testing - selected from a large portfolio of strong targets it has developed in the area.

Samples will be analysed for gold, copper, silver and base metals and results should be available in November-December.

Tableland miner enters administration

The owner of significant mining leases and processing assets on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland has entered into administration.

The Auctus Minerals-owned Chillagoe Project, which counted the Mungana and King Vol deposits in its portfolio, will be put into care and maintenance.

Richard Tucker and John Bumback of KordaMentha Perth have been appointed as voluntary administrators and will pursue a sale or recapitalisation of the project.

Chillagoe region mining acquisition stalls

Consolidated Tin Mines says it will not be proceeding with the proposed takeover of Auctus-owned operations in the Chillagoe region, west of Cairns.

The $53 million acquisition deal covered the Mungana processing plant, the inactive Mungana mine and the King Vol polymetallic mine, which produces about 360,000 tonnes of ore per annum .

Consolidated Tin Mines (CSD) said today the transaction had been subject to conditions including shareholder approval.

FNQ mining operations to combine in $53m deal

Consolidated Tin Mines is taking over Auctus-owned operations in the Chillagoe region, west of Cairns, for up to $53.3 million.

The acquisition includes the Mungana processing plant, the inactive Mungana mine and the King Vol polymetallic mine, which produces about 360,000 tonnes of ore per annum .

New life for NQ copper site

Tartana Resources is working to build a clearer picture of its in-ground
assets in North Queensland as it prepares for an IPO on the Australian Stock
Exchange.

The company plans to restart the heap leach/solvent extraction plant at the
Chillagoe site, which has been on care and maintenance since 2014 and produced
high quality copper sulphate.

But there are other opportunities on the four granted mining leases in the
area - including developing the Queen Grade deposit into an open-cut zinc mine

Auctus Resources has finished commissioning the processing plant at its Chillagoe project in north Queensland and is ramping up production.

GR Engineering Services carried out the upgrade and completion works on the polymetallic concentrator, with a bespoke Auctus Resources design to allow it to handle copper, lead, zinc, gold and silver product.

“We finished the performance trial under the contract today,” Auctus Resources executive chairman Steve Murdoch said last night.

“The plant is producing and we are in the ramp-up phase now.”

Auctus nears production at Chillagoe

Auctus Resources plans to begin production next month at its Chillagoe project in north Queensland.

Auctus Resources managing director Steve Murdoch said the rehabilitated Mungana underground mine was well into development, with first production ore expected during May.

Surface infrastructure was basically complete at the nearby greenfield zinc project – King Vol, where work was progressing on the decline, he said.

Mr Murdoch said Auctus expected to be producing ore from King Vol in second half of this calendar year.

Auctus awards contract for Chillagoe concentrator work

GR Engineering Services has won a $36 million contract for upgrade and completion works on the Mungana polymetallic concentrator at Auctus Minerals' Chillagoe operations.
Work on the engineering, procurement and construction contract will be carried out primarily through GR Engineering Services' Brisbane office and is expected to be completed in April 2017.
The concentrator will be set up to process 500,000 tonnes of ore annually.

Auctus Minerals plans to start mining in late 2016 as it kicks off a $100 million project near Chillagoe, North Queensland.
The private company holds a raft of former Kagara-owned assets in the area as a result of its $65 million takeover of Atherton Resources in late 2015.
Managing director Steve Murdoch has promised a local focus as Auctus lets out the 40-plus contracts required to bring the Mungana polymetallic mine back online and optimise the site’s unfinished concentrator.
