Mining activities in development areas at Carborough Downs remain suspended as investigations continue into an incident that left two workers injured on Monday night.

Paramedics transported a man in his 20s and another in his 30s to Moranbah hospital, but both were discharged by the next day.

Mine owner Fitzroy Resources said they were struck by coal that became detached from a rib in the development area at the Bowen Basin longwall mine.

“Production in the development areas is still suspended while the investigation is completed and appropriate control mechanisms are put in place," a company spokesman said today. . .

Two men were injured when coal fell from a rib in a development area at the Carborough Downs underground mine last night.

It comes within weeks of an incident described as a localised ignition of methane gas, which caused activity to be suspended in the mine's development panels.

Mine owner Fitzroy Resources said first aid was administered to the two men on site after last night's incident and they were transferred to Moranbah Hospital.

The proponents of the new Ironbark No.1 coal mine have entered into a partnership with SES Labour Solutions for  training, development and recruitment.

The State Government last month approved the mining lease for Fitzroy Australia Resources’ Ironbark No. 1 underground longwall development, 35km north-east of Moranbah.

It will to produce up to 6 million tonnes per annum run of mine coal, mostly hard coking coal, with first production expected from the first quarter of 2020.

SES Labour Solutions will deliver the cultural assessment, training requirements and recruitment activities needed for the development.
