Workers vote down Glencore enterprise agreement

Proposed enterprise agreements for Mount Isa Mines and the Ernest Henry Mine have been voted down by Glencore’s workforce.

The Australian Workers’ Union welcomed the results, saying Glencore’s proposed EBA failed to lock-in a pay rise and also failed to take action on other key issues facing the workforce.

AWU Queensland Branch Secretary Steve Baker said union members had sent Glencore a clear message that they deserve a better deal.

Union pushes ‘no’ vote on Mount Isa Mines EBA

The Australian Workers’ Union is fighting a proposed workplace agreement at Mount Isa Mines, saying it fails to lock in one single pay rise.

The union says Glencore’s proposed EBA fails to take action on a number of key issues and will see workers miss out on a guaranteed pay rise for the life of the agreement.

Negotiations have been taking place over the past year on the agreement, which goes to the vote from this Saturday.
