Investment company ASF Group is taking ownership of a raft of Queensland coal tenements in a deal with ActivEx. The group has entered into an agreement to purchase all the issued capital of the ActivEx subsidiary that holds the tenements for $75,000. This takes in nine thermal and metallurgical coal tenements located west of Mackay and south-west of Rockhampton within the Bowen and Surat basins. (See full list below) The completion date for Emperor Energy's acquisition of the Great Caesar mining leases has been extended to May 31. Emperor Energy previously announced in October that it had executed an agreement to acquire the three mining leases, located between Townsville and Charters Towers. The company said it had since carried out an extensive soil testing and rock sampling program as part of its due diligence for the acquisition. "The results of this work are considered to be very positive and analysis is now being finaliaed ready for market release in the near future," it stated in an update to the ASX. The extension of the completion date of the acquisition provides the additional time required to complete the mining lease transfer approval process with the Queensland Government and secure exploration program approval. Chatham Rock Phosphate is a step closer to operations at Korella North, with the posting last week of the notice of proposed grant of a mining lease for a 10-year term ML100379 covers an area of 118.62ha 6km southeast of The Monument at Phosphate Hill. The grant of the mining lease includes the granting of access over the adjacent Phosphate Hill - Townsville rail line to the Phosphate Hill- Duchess Road. Chatham said that if there were no additional native title claimants, ML100379 was capable of being granted on August 17 subject to successfully reaching agreement with the Yulluna people. Queensland Rail crews plan to carry out major maintenance projects during a temporary closure of the North Coast rail line on the regional network from April 9 to 17. Queensland Rail head of regional Scott Cornish said the eight-day closure of the line, which runs the length of Queensland’s coastline from Brisbane to Cairns, would allow for track upgrades at key locations, bolstering the safety and resilience of the vital freight and passenger network. "Through consultation with freight partners and customers, we’ve aligned rail works with major maintenance closures across the Aurizon rail network through Rockhampton, and train-free periods at mine sites connected to the Port of Gladstone, to deliver the most efficient outcome while minimising impacts to supply chains," he said.
