New Hope finished refurbishment of the secondary CHPP at its New Acland site on the Darling Downs last quarter, ready for increased ROM production in the second half of the 2024 financial year. The New Acland mine’s first coal export since recommencing operations, a shipment of 11Kt, sailed in December 2023 and was followed by a 92Kt shipment in January 2024. ROM coal production was 0.46Mt, an increase of 92 per cent compared to the previous quarter. Meanwhile the company reports that the Land Court of Queensland is yet to set dates for the hearing of the Oakey Coal Action Alliance’s legal challenge to the State Government's granting of the Associated Water Licence which allowed the coal operation to resume. Sunshine Metals has kicked off geophysical surveys at the Liontown, Truncheon and Highway East Prospects within its Ravenswood Consolidated project in North Queensland. “The geophysical surveys add another layer of supporting evidence to assist with targeting these highly prospective gold and copper targets," Sunshine managing director Damien Keys said. The IP Surveys at Truncheon and Highway East represent Sunshine’s first detailed activities at these VMS targets. Final assays from the 2023 core drilling program at the Briggs copper project in Central Queensland extend the known strike length of higher-grade mineralisation along the eastern contact zone of the Briggs Central deposit to about 500m. Exploration at Briggs is being funded by Alma Metals under an earn-in joint venture agreement where Alma currently has a 30 per cent interest and can earn up to a 70 per cent interest from owner Canterbury Resources. Further drilling is planned to commence in early Q2, 2024, with a scoping study to commence later in the year. Defence Industry Hub – North Queensland has released details of two current tenders for work in regional Queensland: ESSB Rockhampton Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade – Closes February 23, 2024 – More details on AusTender The scope of works includes the renewal or replacement of existing electrical infrastructure, fixtures and construction of a new Area A Main Switch Board building, replacement of existing main switchboard, upgrade maintenance to existing electrical boards in and around a number of buildings at the Exercise Staging and Support Base (ESSB) in Rockhampton. RAAF Townsville 25m Range Refurbishment – Closes March 11, 2024 – More details on AusTender This project is for refurbishment works to be delivered in parallel at the RAAF Base Townsville 25m Range. The scope includes but is not limited to the following: refurbishment of the range waiting shelter, range ammunitions shelter and range amenities block, leveling of the range floor and installation of soft – fall matting and associated works; and replacement of the existing firing shelter with a new cantilever shelter. South Burnett Regional Council is seeking offers for the supply and delivery of one 4X2 10,000kg GVM truck with mounted crane to meet the council's operational requirements. The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program’s (QTMP) facility near Maryborough will be built with steel supplied by Beenleigh Steel Fabrications under a $40 million contract. Beenleigh Steel Fabrications is to supply and install 2400 tonnes of structural steel for the buildings that will make up the QTMP train manufacturing facility at Torbanlea. Buildings being constructed by Beenleigh Steel Fabrications at Torbanlea include the train manufacturing facility, administrative building, a gatehouse and pump house.
