Uranium player Laramide Resources has received firm commitments for a $12.0 million placement. Proceeds will be used to accelerate development projects in the USA, to ramp up drilling at the company's advanced exploration assets in Australia during the next field season, and to cover general working capital and transaction costs. Laramide recently completed more than 4000m of diamond drilling at the Amphitheatre, Long Pocket, Black Hills and Huarabagoo targets within the Westmoreland tenements in north-west Queensland. Cooper Metals is fast tracking follow-up drilling at the Raven prospect, where the company recently intersected 10m at 1.27 per cent copper and 0.17 g/t gold from 77m and 3m at 1.46 per cent copper and 0.15g/t gold from 100m. Cooper plans seven RC holes for around 1000m at the Raven and Brumby Ridge copper-gold prospects, both part of its Mount Isa East project. This new round of RC drilling has commenced and is expected to take up to two weeks, with assays in December The 2023 drilling program at Maronan in north-west Queensland has returned additional wide, shallow intercepts of high-grade silver with lead mineralisation within the Starter Zone. Maronan Metals has reported intercepts including 20.9m at 4.4 per cent lead, 150g/t silver (270g/t Silver Equivalent), including 6.3m at 5.2 per cent lead, 384g/t silver (511g/t Silver Equivalent); and 2.0m at 10.9 per cent lead, 204g/t silver (512g/t Silver Equivalent); and 2.0m at 13.4per cent lead, 540g/t silver (898g/t Silver Equivalent). Work has commenced on a resource review with an update to be provided in the second half of FY24. Inca Minerals is raising $1 million via a share placement. The company said the funds would primarily be used to progress exploration at its projects in the Northern Territory and Queensland, as well as its newly acquired lithium project in Western Australia and for working capital. BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) has renewed its long-standing partnership with CQUniversity for the First Nations Tertiary Education and Research program. "Over the next five years we will provide funding of more than $3.7 million to continue funding student scholarships, research projects and pathways, and community engagement initiatives led by the University’s Office of Indigenous Engagement and BMA Chair in Indigenous Engagement role," BMA head of production execution Steve Johnston said. “The First Nations Tertiary Education and Research program brings people and resources together to build a better world, by committing to working together to improve the livelihoods of First Nations people, setting up regional Queensland to be resilient and sustainable over the longer term." Monash University has signed MoUs with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and the International Centre for Excellence in Mining Safety and Automation (iCEM) in Gujarat to bring its research and innovation into the mining and mineral development sector in India. The Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub will foster collaborative research activities between researchers and industry leaders from India and Australia, focusing on critical aspects of mineral exploration, extraction, processing and recycling. “These partnerships are another positive step towards international cooperation and sustainable developments in the critical minerals sector, increasing mining efficiency, enhancing capabilities in critical minerals, and reducing mining’s impact on climate change,” Monash University interim president and vice-chancellor Professor Susan Elliott said.
