Cooper Metals has completed RC scout drilling on five key copper-gold prospects in north west Queensland; Mafic Sweats South, Brumby Ridge, Long Slot, Raven and Yarraman. Cooper completed 14 holes for 1550m over the five prospects, which lie within 10km of one another at its Mount Isa East project. Two batches of 1m RC samples (638 samples in total) have been submitted to the laboratory in Mount Isa on “’rush” with the first results expected in November, and the remainder of the results to follow soon after. "Drilling data is currently being compiled and interpreted with follow-up drilling likely at some of the prospects, upon receipt of assay information," Cooper Metals managing director Ian Warland said. Renegade Exploration has started drilling at the Mount Glorious copper-gold prospect, which has yielded recent rock chip samples up to 17.8 per cent copper and 14.35g/t gold. The company plans reverse circulation drilling across 12 holes (for up to 1500m) at the prospect, part of its Cloncurry project. Renegade director Robert Kirtlan classified Mount Glorious as a highly prospective target which warranted drilling. “We are pleased to be drilling Mount Glorious where reinterpretation of historic geophysics, recent soil sampling, rock chipping and field mapping gives us cause to be very excited," he said. "The prospect was previously subject to private mining which ceased approximately 10 years ago and has remained undrilled.” The first sod has been turned on the construction of a new Marano’s Fuel service station in Tully - the 15th site in the independent company’s network of service stations across North Queensland. Marano’s Fuel chief executive officer Angelo Marano said the new Tully service station had been a long-term strategic goal of the organisation. “The addition of another service station to our existing portfolio of locations will ensure that we are able to continue to service our network of pre-existing clients in the Tully area,” Mr Marano said. The Tully site, located at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Andersen St, will be a 24-hour service station and is expected to open in mid-2024. Alpha torbanite developer Greenvale Energy is taking a stake in a helium, hydrogen and hydrocarbon opportunity in the Amadeus Basin in Central Australia. The company has entered a farm-in agreement with Mosman Oil and Gas to acquire a 75 per cent interest in the EP 145 Permit. “This agreement provides an exciting opportunity for Greenvale to test for helium, hydrogen and hydrocarbon potential in the Amadeus Basin, which is known to host some of the highest concentrations of helium globally as well as confirmed accumulations of hydrogen," Greenvale chief executive officer Mark Turner said. “Importantly, the EP 145 permit already has an existing high-quality Prospective Resource Estimate in place – including a Best Estimate of 440Bcf of Total Gas – providing an outstanding platform from which to progress our initial exploration programs." The Federal Court of Australia has approved the proposed scheme of arrangement under which Australian miner Newcrest Mining will be acquired by US gold mining giant Newmont Corporation. Newcrest expects to lodge an office copy of the court orders with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on October 18, at which time the scheme will become effective. It comes after Newcrest shareholders last week voted in favour of the $26.2 billion merger deal.
