Drilling at QMines' Mount Chalmers project north-east of Rockhampton has successfully intersected semi massive sulphide mineralisation between the the Mount Chalmers and Woods Shaft deposits The company said it had completed eight drill holes (1096m) in the area during May and June. Laboratory results are expected shortly. Sphalerite and galena mineralisation in each drillhole indicated that the semi massive sulphide envelope was improving towards the south-west, QMines reported. “We are extremely pleased to see extensions to massive sulfide mineralisation between the Mount Chalmers and Woods Shaft deposits," QMines managing director Andrew Sparke said. "As predicted, faulting appears to have played a major role in concentrating grade, while possibly obscuring the mineralisation at surface. "The team will continue to pursue this target with the aim of locating a new deposit within this exciting corridor." Manufacturing Skills Queensland has appointed Rebecca Andrews as its chief executive officer from July. MSQ is an independent body supported by a $16.5 million State Government investment over three years to drive the growth of the state’s manufacturing industry. Prior to MSQ, Ms Andrews served in key leadership roles including: Australian Industry Group Queensland state head; Deputy Director-General, Small Business at the Department of Employment, Small Business, and Training; and various boards and advisory groups, including the Ministerial Manufacturing Council. Tim Rose will be acting as chief executive officer at Mount Isa City Council from early July, with current chief executive officer Dale Dickson leaving the organisation. Mr Rose is a former chief executive officer of Local Buy, Burnett Shire Council and Bowen Shire Council, as well as a former acting CEO of Diamantina Shire, Mapoon Aboriginal Shire, and Quilpie Shire councils. Mr Rose will assume the role from next week until the council’s July 19 Ordinary Meeting, where it will determine if Mr Rose continues in the role and, if so, for what period of time. Comet Ridge is near to locking in a long-term gas sales agreement with CleanCo Queensland for its Mahalo gas hub. Comet Ridge managing director Tor McCaul, said “We are very pleased to have substantially completed this long-term gas sales agreement. This will be Comet Ridge’s inaugural GSA for the Mahalo Gas Hub once our respective board approvals are completed.” Crater Gold Mining has completed eight diamond drill holes for 776.2m at the S3 graphite target area within its Croydon project in North Queensland. Drilling at the S3 prospect is ongoing. The company secured a $110,000 Queensland Government Collaborative Exploration Initiative (CEI) grant for initial drilling at S3. Geological logging of the drill core is proceeding prior to despatch of samples for assay. The Queensland Government has awarded Multiplex Constructions the contract to deliver stage one of the new $1.3 billion Coomera Hospital on the Gold Coast . The new hospital will deliver 404 new beds, including surgical, medical, ambulatory, sub-acute and mental health inpatient beds to the community. Early works will begin later this year, with the project expected to be completed in late 2027. Mytilineos Energy & Metals this week celebrated the official opening of its 110MW Moura solar farm, the first of four projects it is bringing online in Queensland. The project holds a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with CS Energy, Queensland Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Minister Mick de Brenni congratulated the Mytilineos team for building the Moura solar farm within nine months, employing 250 people. The site has been operational since October 2022, when energy was first exported.
