Bindi Metals reports results up to 24 per cent copper, 4.4g/t gold and 912g/t silver from rock sampling at Quartz Ridge at its Biloela project. Extensive copper-gold-silver mineralisation has been mapped out over 1km at Quartz Ridge and magnetics have identified a new intrusion-related copper-gold target that has never been drill tested. “These exceptional results, that follow on from the recently announced high-grade copper-gold Tea Tree discovery, further enhance the potential of the Biloela project and highlight the prospectivity for green energy metals on the tenement package," executive director Henry Renou said. "We are highly encouraged by the potential of the Biloela project and excited with the early results from the start of the field season. Work is also underway on a dipole-dipole IP survey at Flanagan’s, designed to refine targets for a drill program in the coming months." The Biloela copper project is located 40km west of the Mount Cannindah project and 100km north of Evolution Mining’s Mount Rawdon mine. Coppermoly has completed a share placement to raise $845,920, to be used to advance its Queensland copper-gold exploration projects and for general working capital. The placement sees Hongkong Ausino Investment - owned by Perth-based mineral explorer Dr Fu Minlu - become a substantial shareholder (owning 19.95 per cent). “Dr Fu was trained under Dr Roy Woodall at WMC and subsequently applied his geophysical training to the discovery of three large coper gold mines in Xingjiang and Tibet, in two of which he retains substantial ownership interests," managing director Dr Wanfu Huang said. "Coppermoly is delighted that Dr Fu and his geophysical team will be immediately available to the Company as we advance the exploration program in the highly prospective terrain, the East Successions of Mount Isa Inlier." Coppermoly holds the contiguous tenements EPM 27835 (Foxes Creek) and EPM 27836 (Mount Tracey), 55km south-southwest of Cloncurry. EQ Resources has received a $2.3 million tax refund in support of the R&D programs conducted at its Mount Carbine tungsten mine in preparation for the restart of open-pit mining at the end of June. “It is in the DNA of our teams across the company to continuously improve the work we conduct and enable us to compete with the best tungsten operators out there in the global market," chief executive officer Kevin MacNeill said. "We are pleased to receive recognition of our work and contribution to the applied research sector with such a significant tax refund.” Explorer ActivEX reports high-grade rock chip assays confirming precious and base metals potential at Digger Creek prospect over a 2km mapped trend within its Georgetown gold project. Significant gold and silver assays up to 16.15g/t gold and 1,185g/t silver were returned. Forty-four of the 56 rock chip samples were anomalous in gold (greater than 0.15g/t gold). In addition, 14 samples returned greater than 0.5 per cent lead, with a maximum of 57.1 per cent lead. Eight rock chips assayed greater than 5 per cent manganese. Ark Mines has reported the completion of an initial environmental scoping study, including baseline surveys, for its Sandy Mitchell project. The rare earths and heavy minerals sand project is located near Chillagoe, North Queensland. The completion of the ESS marks the next phase of project development at Sandy Mitchell, following the recent completion of the 1500m Phase 1 drill program. Ark said the survey data collected would inform the development of the company’s on-site monitoring and environmental management plans - central to the mine development approval process. "The commissioning of the study was done in line with the company’s near-term strategy to expedite the development of this project by completing the full baseline environmental survey and accelerating the approval process," executive director Ben Emery said. "We are thankful to Terra Solutions and NETC for their significant work in mobilising for this survey, and look forward to providing more updates around pending assay results and ongoing project development in the months ahead.” Anglo Coal is advancing through the approvals process with a proposal to relocate rail and a water pipeline near Moranbah to allow progression of mining at its Moranbah North and Grosvenor sites. The proposal involves part of the North Goonyella Branch line owned and operated by Aurizon and a water pipeline known as the Braeside Pipeline, owned and operated by the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance. Anglo's referral under the EPBC Act has been opened for public comment Consultation is underway with Aurizon, BMA, landholders, farming lease holders and agistees, overlapping tenement holders and infrastructure owners, local indigenous groups, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Isaac Regional Council. Glencore has set the wheels in motion to extend the mining area of its Rolleston open-cut coal operation through the Spring Creek North Continuation Project. Documents supporting an environmental authority amendment state that approval of the SCNCP would facilitate improved mine closure outcomes and increase resource recovery. It would not increase the mine’s production rate or extend the life of mine for the overall Rolleston open-cut coal operation. Though situated on existing ML’s, the project area has not previously been approved for mining. Member for Condamine Pat Weir has officially opened the newly renovated New Acland Coal Community Information Centre at Oakey. The Campbell St centre closed when nearby New Acland Mine was placed into care and maintenance in March 2021. New Acland Mine general manager Dave O’Dwyer said the reopening highlighted New Hope Group’s close relationship with the local community. “Following a two-year hiatus, we’re delighted to once again have an office at Oakey,” Mr O’Dwyer said. Queensland Resources Minister Scott Stewart officially opened New Acland Mine Stage 3 last month following a 16-year approvals process.
