News updates on Decmil, Mine Site Technologies, Glencore, Pacific Nickel and more … Decmil Group has engaged Colliers to market its 1400-bed Homeground Gladstone AccommodationVillage, citing increased major project activity as sparking the decision to reinvigorate the sales progress. As part of the sales process, Decmil is offering to lease the village back for 20 plus years on a triplenet lease with initial net income at $6 million per annum and 3 per cent fixed reviews year on year. Decmil will continue to operate and maintain the camp to accommodate future projects in the catchment. MST Global’s high-speed and low latency digital communication network, position tracking and proximity detection solution Komatsu is acquiring Mine Site Technologies, a provider of operational optimisation platforms for underground mining that leverage communication devices and position tracking systems. Komatsu said it planned to work with MST Global to help customers build digital ecosystems with real-time insights and alerts, voice and communication technologies, software solutions, robust network infrastructure and wireless and geospatial technologies. Komatsu is planning to close the acquisition on July 1. Plans to upgrade Gracemere’s Waste Transfer Station will commence in coming months with Rockhampton Regional Council set to award the tender for the redevelopment project. The council has spent the last 12 months capping what was the former Fitzroy Shire landfill which operated from 1984 – 2015. Waste and recycling spokesman Cr Shane Latcham said the new facility was expected to be complete by Christmas. Cairns Regional Council has endorsed the provision of $8.4 million for the maintenance and renewal of its 1360km road network. It includes a commitment of $4.4 million through the annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program. Roads identified for renewal through the Pavement Rehabilitation Program in the next 12 months include: Aumuller St, Bungalow, from Poochies Parlour to Spence St, Greenslopes St, Edge Hill, from Pease St to Forest St, English St, Manunda, from Anderson St to Wilkinson St, and from Wilkinson St to Card St, Kamerunga Rd, Redlynch, from Daphne St roundabout to Regent Avenue Park, Varley St, Yorkeys Knob, from Nancy St to Judith St, Yorkeys Knob Rd, Yorkeys Knob, from Dunne Rd to Varley St. The council will spend $1.43 million on maintaining the surface layer of its roads, which is critical to extending the life of the underlying pavement. It has also endorsed a $2.57 million Asphalt Overlay Program, which will repair and renew 34 streets and roads across 15 suburbs. Glencore is throwing its weight behind Pacific Nickel's Kolosori project in the Solomon Islands with an offtake deal and debt facility. The major mining company has entered into to a non-binding indicative term sheet for a three-year $US22 million pre-export finance facility. Pacific Nickel said the proposed debt facility will cover a substantial portion of the pre-production investment required to develop the Kolosori Project. The agreement also covers a four-year offtake arrangement for all of Kolosori’s production, which canbe extended by a further two years by mutual agreement. The International Mining and Resources Conference & Expo (IMARC), will now be held in Sydney at the International Convention Centre, November 2-4. It had previously been scheduled to be held in Melbourne in October Listed Australian company Cokal has forecast its first coal sales in September, completing its transition to a full production company. Company chairman Domenic Martino said development was advancing rapidly at the Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) coking coal mine in Indonesia, where Cokal holds a 60 per cent stake. “Production of coking coal is imminent and first coal sales forecast for September 2022,’’ Mr Martino said. Vik Bansal will take over as chief executive officer and managing director of Boral by December 5 after running steel group InfraBuild. Zlatko Todorcevski will remain in the CEO role until transition is completed. Boral chairman Ryan Stokes described Mr Bansal as the right leader to guide the company into a new era.
