Quick fire – industry events update

This week's JKMRC Seminar is on New Methods of Flotation Process Intensification and Monitoring and covers innovations which have been taken to successful industrial demonstration. The speaker is University of Queensland school of chemical engineering senior lecturer Dr Liguang Wang. The seminar will be presented in person at UQ's Experimental Mine Site lecture theatre, 40 Isles Rd, Indooroopilly, and via webinar from 9am on April 14. Register here. The two-day MITEZ Vanadium Forum will be hosted in Julia Creek on April 17 and Richmond on April 18. It is set to include updates from companies including QEM, Multicom, Vecco and Richmond Vanadium Technology as well as presentations on the Queensland Resources Common User Facility, DSDILGP’s Qld Battery Strategy and Critical Minerals Industries Branch, the Sustainable Minerals Institute, the Advanced Materials and Battery Council together with logistic, trade and investment proponents. Resources Minister Scott Stewart will remotely address the forum. MITEZ (Mount Isa to Townsville Economic Development Zone) has reserved accommodation in Julia Creek for members. QEC / McCullough Robertson Investment Showcase - Brisbane. This investment and networking event is hosted by Queensland Exploration Council corporate partner McCullough Robertson and showcases the investment opportunities of three featured Queensland exploration companies. Date: May 16 Employer Breakfasts: DFV Paid Leave. Integreat Queensland is holding two free employer breakfasts in Central Queensland addressing domestic and family violence paid leave. From August 1 2023, employees, including part time and casual, of small businesses with less than 15 employees can access 10 days of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) paid leave. These events will assist employers in how to recognise and help employees that maybe experiencing DFV as well as understanding the new employer legislation for Domestic and Family Violence paid leave coming into effect. They are Friday May 12 in Gladstone and Wednesday, May 31 in Rockhampton The Civil Contractors Federation Queensland will hold its state conference in Brisbane in May to co-incide with the Heavy Equipment and Machinery Show (formerly the Civil Construction Field Days). CCF Qld will again partner with Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia to connect the Heavy Equipment & Machinery Show and with Brisbane Truck Show. "We are thrilled to be partnering with the Brisbane Truck Show again to provide all Heavy Equipment & Machinery Show ticketholders free access to the Brisbane Truck Show," chief executive officer Damian Long said. "This collaboration will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to experience both events at one low price, with free shuttles running between the two events every 30 minutes." Conference speakers include Department of Infrastructure executive director Aaron Broughton and Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey. The CCF Qld State Conference will take place on May 18 at the Royal International Convention & Exhibition Centre, while the Heavy Equipment & Machinery Show will run from 18-21 May at the Brisbane Showgrounds. 26th World Mining Congress (WMC 2023) - Brisbane.This event offers 13 internationally renowned plenary speakers and more than 300 presentations and discussions segmented through three symposia, as well as 15,000sqm of exhibition. Date: June 26-29 2023 NQLD Quarrying and Mining Safety & Health Conference - Townsville. This one-day interactive program is co-hosted by the Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) and Resources Safety & Health Queensland (RSHQ). Date: July 14 Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference 2023 - Gold Coast. The Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference is an initiative to promote health and safety in the Queensland mining industry. The conference provides the industry with the opportunity to exchange information, network and foster proactive health and safety management techniques. The deadline to submit abstracts in for this event is March 31, early bird registrations close June 30. Event date: August 20-23 2023 Central Highlands Business Excellence Awards - Emerald. The awards are a biennial initiative that Central Highlands Development Corporation started in 2013 to celebrate the region's diverse and dedicated business community. Categories for 2023 are Agribusiness; Manufacturing, Construction and Trades; Emerging Business; Beauty, Health and Lifestyle; Hospitality; Not-for-Profit; Professional and Business Services; Retail; Tourism; and Mining Equipment, Technology and Services. The Central Highlands Business of the Year will be selected from the category winners. Business wishing to be in the running for the 2023 Central Highlands Business Excellence Awards have until April 2 to nominate (online nomination form HERE). A separate People's Choice category is decided by a public vote. Nominations for this category will open on June 2.
