Mackay-based Linked Energy is shining on the national stage, with its EcoSkid portable remote power plant taking out a Master Electricians Australia excellence award.

It was the second year running that Linked Energy has topped the Energy Efficient Project of the Year category in the national awards.

“We believe this award is a great reflection of Linked’s continuous efforts to showcase we are leaders in the field of innovative renewable solutions, services and products,” managing director Jason Sharam said.

Designed to replace diesel generators on site and remove associated issues, the EcoSkid portable plant utilises solar, batteries and inverters to generate, store and distribute power.

Six awards out of eight categories went to Queensland when the MEA National Awards for Excellence were held in Brisbane at the weekend. They included Nicola McCarron and Matthew Pinney – colleagues at the Townsville-based Horan & Bird – who took home the Women In Contracting and the Lance Cislowski Electrician (Tradie) of the Year awards respectively.

Other Queenslanders to receive awards included Tony Arnold and Garrick Cripps of Arnold Electrical & Data Instrumentation for the best Commercial Project of the Year; Roman Kasjan from Solar Service Guys who was named the Legrand Apprentice of the Year; and Solar Service Guys, represented by Peter Matthews, were awarded the Master Electrician of the Year Award.

Victoria’s Robert Urpis was on hand to collect the Residential Project of the Year Award on behalf of Argus Technologies. While Steve Villier from S & K Electrical, Western Australia was awarded the Industrial Project of the Year Award.

MEA chief executive officer Malcolm Richards said the Excellence Awards recognised the tremendous talent that existed across the industry, while also demonstrating the core MEA values such as quality, safety and high standard of service.
