Golding Contractors has won a four-year extension worth about $245 million to its mining contract at the Kogan Creek coal operation.

Power generator CS Energy’s subsidiary Aberdare Collieries owns and operates the Kogan Creek open-cut coal mine near the Kogan Creek coal-fired power station.

Golding will supply all major equipment under the contract and expects to spend about $10 million in FY2025 to meet the requirements of the extension.

The extension means it will continue to employ up to 100 people at the project, most of which live in the local Chinchilla or broader south-east Queensland region.

Golding, an NRW subsidiary, also counts Curragh, Broadlea, Baralaba North and Isaac Plains among its Queensland coal projects.

This year saw it contracted to lead the new open-pit operation at the Mount Carbine tungsten mine in far north Queensland, in a mining services agreement worth about $179 million.
