Field program yields high-grade finds for Killi

Killi Resources' first field program at the Mount Rawdon West project has delivered high-grade rock chip results of up to 7.2 per cent copper and 12.4g/t gold. It has identified a 5.5km long by 2.5km wide copper-gold-silver corridor, referred to as the Baloo prospect. "We previously had two target areas, Wonbah and Baloo, however with these results we believe this is a much larger system than originally thought and will refer to the mineralised corridor as Baloo," chief executive officer Kathryn Cutler said. “The location of multiple old workings from the early 1900s had been recorded by the Queensland Government, however the commodity and mining specifics have not. "The scale of the historical workings from the turn of the last century demonstrates there is a significant potential here for an economic copper-gold discovery." She said the region had not seen much exploration attention since those times, except a few soil programs completed in the early 2000s which did not cover the main corridor or historical workings. However, they did highlight a copper-gold-molybdenum anomaly in the centre of the tenement. “From the rocks, alteration, and visible mineralisation observed on the ground, we believe the Baloo area to be highly prospective for a porphyry copper gold system, with these rock chip results demonstrating we do have the grade needed,” Ms Cutler said. Related: Killi kicks off new round of drilling at Rocky prospect Killi collected 26 rock chip samples, focusing on the main corridor between the two major faults of the region, the Mount Rawdon and Mount Perry faults. Rock chip samples were taken from old workings, outcrops, and subcrop locations on hills where bedrock or fresh rock was visible. Twelve of the 26 rock chip samples collected returned assays greater than 1 per cent copper. Results included: 7.2 per cent copper and 27.2 g/t silver 4.2 per cent copper, 1.16 g/t gold, 75.8 g/t silver, 1 per cent lead and 0.3 per cent zinc 4.5 per cent copper, 0.09g/t gold and 83.7 g/t silver 3.5 per cent copper and 85.9 g/t silver 3.3 per cent copper, 0.37 g/t gold and 31.1 g/t silver 2.4 per cent copper, 0.48 g/t gold and 22.3 g/t silver 2 per cent copper, 12.4 g/t gold and 65.6 g/t silver 0.6per cent copper , 4.26 g/t gold and 32.9 g/t silver About 200 soil samples were also taken, with results expected in October. Lying north of Queensland’s Mount Rawdon gold mine, the Mount Rawdon West project covers 309sq km and takes in historical gold, copper, and molybdenum mines, including the Wonbah molybdenite mine.
