East Shores 1B development taking shape
Gladstone Ports Corporation says the expanded East Shores precinct is on track to open in mid-2020, with construction well underway on site.
Acting chief executive officer Craig Walker said GPC was committed to providing world-class waterfront parklands for Gladstone locals and visitors alike.
The East Shores Stage 1B development includes a waterfront café, cruise ship passenger terminal, boot camp facilities, big-screen outdoor theatre,
amphitheatre, basketball hoops and additional barbeque facilities.
“In the coming weeks, our team will be announcing the successful tenderer of the waterfront café and the grand opening event details – it will definitely be one to mark in the calendar,” Mr Walker said.
Hutchinson Builders is the principal contractor on the $29.5 million project.
Work has begun on the revamped Patsy Lee Place fishing platform, including the installation of the adjacent main barbeque structure.
The main cruise ship passenger terminal concrete floors are nearing completion, which will allow the installation of the large counterweight fold-up doors to be installed.
Construction of concrete pathways and seating is underway, and concrete foundations have been completed for the outdoor boot camp and swing play area, with structural steel installation scheduled this month.
