Dyno Nobel’s site in Moranbah has boosted the town water supply with a donation of 50 megalitres of water.

Isaac Regional Council said the Incitec Pivot business made the generous contribution of their extra allocated water that would otherwise remain in their reserves.

To mark the occasion, the council’s Water and Waste Standing Committee chair Simon West and director Gary Murphy presented an official letter of gratitude to Dyno Nobel Moranbah site manager Peter Henderson.

Mayor Anne Baker said the township of Moranbah would use up to 2800 megalitres a year on average.

“50ML is about five to six days worth of water supply for the Moranbah community and would cost council about $133,000 to purchase,” she said.

“It’s money that can be better spent on other water projects and initiatives in Moranbah and will make a significant impact to the current year’s water supply arrangements.”

Mr Henderson said the donation was a great outcome following discussions with the council about water supply allocations.

“We wanted to ensure our water was put to good use and talked to council about how we could help increase supply for the community,” he said.

“Our people are particularly pleased that we have been able to give back to Moranbah which is home to the vast majority of our 170-strong workforce.”
