Carnaby to test array of undrilled ‘exceptional’ targets

Carnaby Resources has laid out new exploration plans at its Greater Duchess copper-gold project, with a string of undrilled discoveries in its sights. It comes after recent reconnaissance rock chip and soil sampling and mapping at the project, located 70km south-east of Mount Isa. The new targets will be the focus of first-pass geophysical and aggressive exploration drilling programs in the second half of 2024. "Carnaby has systematically been advancing and generating numerous new undrilled exceptional targets in the Nil Desperandum to Mount Hope corridor that we are confident will deliver a new growth phase in the mineral resource," managing director Rob Watkins said. "We are particularly excited about the Mount Hope regional targets, where we are seeing some incredible outcropping mineralisation which remains completely untested by any drilling. "Geophysics and drilling of these targets is imminent with two drill rigs currently in operation.” Mount Hope region targets include: New undrilled Mohawk discovery 1.5km south-east of Mount Hope. This features a strong VTEM anomaly and outcropping copper gold mineralisation (up to 28.3 per cent copper and 0.94g/t gold) over a 200m x 150m area. New undrilled Deejay Jude prospect 3km north-east of Mount Hope. This features 400m strike of undrilled historical workings, with results of up to 11.8 per cent copper and 0.34g/t gold found in outcropping mineralisation. New undrilled Plus prospect 2km south-west of Mount Hope. Spectacular historical workings with Mount Hope-style vuggy quartz-chalcopyrite breccia mineralisation. Rock chip sampling delivered 7.6 per cent copper and 0.29g/t gold. Nil Desperandum region targets: New undrilled Nil Secundo prospect 2.0km south-west of Nil Desperandum. Showing up to 15.4 per cent copper and 3.79g/t old in rock chip samples This site features a 1km x 1km soil anomaly. New undrilled Breccia Hill prospect 1.4km south-east of Nil Desperandum. This site has produced rock chip results up to 8.91 per cent copper and features a 1.5km long x 700m wide soil anomaly completely open to the south and east. Extensive breccia zone linked to Nil Desperandum. Carnaby released scoping study results in May that put the cost of bringing a copper and gold operation online at Greater Duchess at $35 million if it uses a third party processing route rather than setting up its own processing infrastructure. The Greater Duchess scoping study contemplates open pit and underground mining of three deposits – Nil Desperandum, Lady Fanny and Mount Hope, each of which has been discovered by Carnaby over the last two years. It sets out a mine life of nine to 12 years and a run-of-mine production target of 823,000 to 862,000 tonnes depending on whether the project uses toll treatment or its own plant.
