A host of work packages is open for expression of interest on a $155 million upgrade project at HMAS Cairns via ICN Gateway.

BESIX Watpac is the managing contractor on the project, with work scheduled to commence in March 2023 and reach completion in December 2025.

The investment will support the new Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessels.

The project will see the existing Navy wharf demolished and a new wharf will be built. Existing engineering services infrastructure including electrical supply and distribution, roads, stormwater, and sewerage, will be extended or upgraded.

It will also see a new Navy Cadet facility constructed off-base close to HMAS Cairns.

Information on specific supply opportunities will be communicated on the ICN Gateway project page as it becomes available, with local industry able to register interest against them.
