Trek 1 results continue to shine for Carnaby

Carnaby Resources has announced further high-grade drill results from the Trek 1 prospect, including 6m at 7.1 per cent copper equivalent.

The new data clearly showed that the Trek 1 high-grade extension at the Trekelano site in North-West Queensland was continuous and completely open at depth and along strike, managing director Rob Watkins said.

Carnaby’s work and equally robust shallow historical drill results highlighted that the Trek 1 deposit had good potential to become a very important high-grade open pit, he said.

This is being assessed as part of the prefeasibility study for the broader Greater Duchess copper-gold project, due for completion by the end of this year.

The company last month announced a ‘material, game-changing’ drill result at Trek 1, intersecting 7m at 9.3 per cent copper equivalent.

Trek 1 is an extension of the historical Trekelano mine orebody, which supported one of the most significant copper operations in the Mount Isa region at the start of the last century.

The total current mineral resource estimate completed by Carnaby at Trekelano is 5.2Mt at 1.6 per cent CuEq (1.4 per cent copper, 0.4g/t gold) for 85,000t of contained copper equivalent tonnes.

Trek 1 is an inferred mineral resource containing 1.5Mt at 2.0 per cent CuEq (1.7 per cent copper, 0.5g/t gold) for 29,000t of contained copper equivalent tonnes.

Assay results released this week include:

  • CBRC033 – 6m at 7.1 per cent CuEq (6.7 per cent copper, 0.5g/t gold) from 331m including 3m at 12.8 per cent CuEq (12.2 per cent copper, 0.7g/t gold) from 332m
  • CBGT002 – 23m (true width about 21m) at 2.4 per cent CuEq (2.0 per cent copper, 0.4g/t gold) from 216m including 13m (TW~12m) at 4.0 per cent CuEq (3.4 per cent copper, 0.7g/t gold) from 216m and 2.5m at 3.4 per cent CuEq (2.3 per cent copper, 1.3g/t gold) from 345.3m

Carnaby said it was undertaking detailed structural review and target compilation at Trekelano with the aim of first-pass drill testing of these new targets this quarter.
