CIMIC Group shifts on payment terms

Major contractor CIMIC Group is returning to 30-day payment terms for its small business suppliers and subcontractors in Australia.

The group - whose operating companies include CPB Contractors, UGL, Thiess and Sedgman - said the policy would be implemented progressively in the coming months.  

The group came under fire late last year when UGL's payment terms were pushed out to 65 days after the month in which suppliers and subcontractors issued their invoices.

UGL snags $180m in oil and gas work

Contractor UGL has secured a multi-year extension of its maintenance, service and shutdown services contract for GLNG's Curtis Island facility.

It was among $180 million in new contracts and extensions the CIMIC Group company announced today.

They also included work at Viva Energy's Geelong refinery, offshore platform work for Esso Australia, and a multi-year contract with BP Kwinana.

UGL said it had also secured a new contract in Queensland for brownfields projects and operational services in the oil and gas sector.
