Positive Townsville workforce trends
Townsville region has seen a lift in workforce numbers, but there is concern for what's around the corner as JobKeeper, JobSeeker and bank mortgage relief fall away.
TP Human Capital director Clayton Cook and local economist Colin Dwyer say the Federal Budget next month must include some reassurance that borderline household incomes won't destabilise Townsville’s encouraging workforce performance.
Mr Cook said the Townsville region had officially increased it workforce by around 5000 people to 113,600 in the past month and reduced its three-monthly unemployment rate to 5.5 per cent (regionally adjusted full employment).
