Stratanet offers lightweight cladding alternative
Wilson Mining has released a new polypropylene alternative to steel mesh for roof and wall cladding applications in underground mines.
The Mastermyne-owned company describes Stratanet as a lightweight, corrosion-resistant and multi-directional high-strength alternative to steel.
A honeycomb design helps to distribute the load of any loose debris, having undergone several iterations to provide the highest flexural and tensile properties in the areas furthest from the supporting rock bolts.
The lightweight polypropylene - weighing in at 2.3-2.4kg/sq m - also provides occupational health and safety benefits associated with manual handling and installation.
