Grosvenor blast report before Resources Minister

The Queensland Coal Mining Board of Inquiry established after last year's Grosvenor mine blast has provided Part II of its report to Resources Minister Scott Stewart.

Not yet available to the public, Part II sets out the Board’s findings and recommendations on the cause of the serious accident that occurred at Grosvenor mine on May 6, 2020, injuring five men, and 27 methane exceedance high potential incidents in the lead-up to that event.

Submissions have opened for the Queensland Resources Industry Development Plan.

Resources Minister Scott Stewart said the plan centred on working with industry, the regions and communities to set a shared vision for the future of the sector.

State launches resources development plan

More growth, jobs and investment in Queensland's coal, minerals and gas industries will be a key focus of an industry-wide blueprint being developed by the State Government.

And it is seeking industry and community input as it draws up the plan.

Speaking at the launch of the Queensland Resources Industry Development Plan (QRIDP), Resources Minister Scott Stewart said the strategy was about working with industry, the regions and communities to set a shared vision for the future of the sector.

State markets mighty minerals province to Europe

A series of international engagement sessions are set to focus global attention on the North West Minerals Province and its top-shelf credentials for 'energy transition' metals.

Resources Minister Scott Stewart said experts from his department hosted a special engagement session with the Movement of the Enterprises of France, which has more than 750,000 member companies.

“Thirty firms attended with direct interest in the minerals supply chain, from upstream extraction to downstream processing and manufacturing,” Mr Stewart said.

Stewart elevated to Cabinet, with mines role on the table

Member for Townsville Scott Stewart is among three new ministers Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has appointed to State Cabinet.

Mr Stewart, Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard and Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon have been named to replace three ministers who retired at the election on October 31.

The retiring ministers included Natural Resources, Mines and Energy Minister Anthony Lynham as well as Coralee O’Rourke and Kate Jones.

Mr Stewart has been touted as a contender for the mines portfolio, but Ms Palaszczuk has yet to release full details of the new-look ministry.
