Milestone for Queensland military vehicle production

The 30,000sq m building that will house military vehicle manufacturing at Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s new headquarters in Redbank is finished and ready for fit-out.

Premier
Annastacia Palaszczuk said it was a major construction milestone in the
delivery of the $170 million Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE)
for Rheinmetall.

“With construction only commencing on the MILVEHCOE in late 2018, I commend Watpac, as managing contractor, on the cracking pace that has delivered this impressive 30,000sq m production building ready for use," she said.

Power boost for $60m munitions plant

The State Government is investing $9 million to upgrade energy supply and connection for the planned $60 million Rheinmetall shell forging plant in Maryborough.

State Development and Manufacturing Minister Cameron Dick said the Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions (RNM) facility would create up to 100 advanced manufacturing jobs for Maryborough.

“Maryborough
has enough power, but because the facility’s energy needs are complex we want
to strengthen supply and safeguard connection,” Mr Dick said.

“We worked with Ergon Energy and RNM to best understand what the plant needed in terms of connection to the grid, and we’re now investing $9 million. . .

Defence contractor Rheinmetall to brief Townsville industry

Rheinmetall Defence Australia will host an event in Townsville this month as part of an Industry Engagement Road Show.Rheinmetall will provide its defence program updates and engage in business-to-business sessions to gain a greater understanding of industry capabilities.

The event will run from 8.30am to 11am on May 23 at Rydges Southbank.

The Federal Government last year announced that Rheinmetall Defence Australia was the successful tenderer for the LAND 400 Phase 2 contract.

The Government will spend $5.2 billion to acquire 211 Boxer CRV vehicles, which will replace the Army’s current ageing. . .
