Reid’s Dome delivers ‘exceptional results’

State Gas has reported 'exceptional results' from the Nyanda-4 well at its Reid’s Dome gas project (PL 231) in the Bowen Basin.

The company is undertaking production testing of three coal seam gas (CSG) wells to appraise that area for earlydevelopment.

It said today that the Nyanda-4 well - drilled in 2018 - had produced a total of 620,000 cubic feet in the previous 24 hours.

It comes after pump breakdowns interrupted gas production at the well during test periods last year.

State Gas has welcomed the award of substantial new acreage west of Rolleston as a 'company-maker', saying it has the potential to quadruple its resource position.

The company has been appointed preferred tenderer for a 1414sq km block (Block 5) in the latest Queensland Government petroleum land release.

The land surrounds the northern part of the site where State Gas is developing the Reid's Dome gas project.

Being contiguous with PL231 (Reid's Dome), the addition of Rolleston-West would create a super-gas region, the company said.

State Gas says the Phase 1 appraisal program at its Reid's Dome gas field has confirmed the presence of significant coal seam gas across more than 12km.

"Given the greenfield nature of the field, the results obtained to date have exceeded my expectations,” State Gas executive chairman Richard Cottee said.

“Through Phase 1, we have also obtained valuable information for future well completions and optimised the pumping technology for the local conditions.

“The appraisal results augur well for the future and increase my confidence about the scale and timing for the project.

Production tests resume at Reid’s Dome

Production tests have resumed at the Reid's Dome gas project in Central Queensland's Bowen Basin.

State Gas said the testing had recommenced at both the Nyanda-4 and the Serocold-1 wells.

It is appraising the potential for a significant coal seam gas project and and production tests at those wells had encouraging results in late 2019 and early 2020.

State Gas said those tests had been interrupted by pump issues in both wells, but it had since arranged for the manufacture in Canada of customised replacement pumps.
