Airlie Beach revamp wins top construction gong

The Airlie Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Project has won the Project of the Year title at the Master Builders Mackay & Whitsunday Housing & Construction Awards.

The $7.1 million project was completed last year, following the devastation wrought by Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie in 2017.

The work, by Paynters, also won the Best Community Service Facilities category. 

Paynters made it a hat-trick with the award for Best Tourism and Leisure Facilities over $10 million for the Whitsunday Coast Airport Terminal Upgrade.

School construction top of the class at CQ awards

The Calliope community's first senior schooling facility has taken out the Project of the Year award for Paynters at this year's Master Builders Central Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.

Calliope State High School consists of nine one-and-two-storey buildings, stop-drop-go facility, sports oval, landscaping, roads and more than 200 parking spaces

It features a future-proofing plan to allow laboratories to expand by opening false walls, and the hall to expand eastward as the school grows, while rainwater tanks and solar panel system tick the sustainability box.
