Financial close for FNQ green power hub

Renewable energy company Neoen has completed financial close for the $370 million Kaban Green Power Hub in Far North Queensland.

Civil works are already underway on the project after EPC contractor Vestas was provided with notice to proceed in May.

The project set to deliver more than 250 construction jobs and to generate 457 GWh of affordable clean energy each year from 2023.

It consists of a 157 MW wind farm located near Ravenshoe and a 320km transmission line upgrade of the North Queensland coastal circuit.

Financial milestone for $600m solar project

Neoen has tied up the finances it needs to proceed with the Western Downs Green Power Hub, described as the largest solar farm in Australia.

The $600 million project near Chinchilla is expected to create more than 400 construction jobs.

Sterling & Wilson were appointed as the project’s Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor in May, design and engineering works began in June, and site mobilisation is expected by the end of the year.

Financing for the 460 MWp solar farm has been secured through a syndicate of seven lenders: Natixis, Société Générale, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, MUFG Bank. . .

Neoen plans July start for $570m solar farm build

Renewable energy company Neoen has signed a deal paving the way for it to build Australia's largest solar farm near Chinchilla.

Construction of the 460-480mWp Western Downs Green Power Hub is expected to begin in July and create more than 400 jobs.

Neon announced today that it had signed a 352 MWp power purchase agreement with CleanCo Queensland for energy from the $570 million project.

FNQ wind farm plan gains Federal approval

Construction of a $300 million wind farm near Ravenshoe in Far North Queensland is expected to kick off by early 2021 after winning Federal environmental approval.

Neoen's Green Power Hub at Kaban is proposed to include up to 29 turbines and additional infrastructure, including a substation and battery storage facility.

Neoen Australia managing director Louis de Sambucy said the site had some of Queensland’s best wind resources.
