Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced a two-year deal with Gladstone-based LNG exporters to help reduce domestic energy prices.
He said the new Heads of Agreement with Australia Pacific LNG, Queensland Curtis LNG and Gladstone LNG would ensure more gas was offered to the domestic market, more often, and on more competitive terms.

Australia's LNG export revenue dropped to $36.1 billion last year, down from $48.7 billion in 2019, despite increased volumes, according to estimates from EnergyQuest.
Export income had been severely impacted by the lower oil prices seen through much of the year since April, together with low spot prices, the energy advisory firm said.

Gladstone Ports Corporation is forecasting a successful 2021 after achieving a record high for LNG exports for the month of December.
Acting chief executive officer Craig Walker said throughout December GPC exported 2,193,785 tonnes of LNG and welcomed 176 vessels to its three ports in Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg.
The strong finish to 2020 came after EnergyQuest reported that Gladstone’s LNG plants in November exceeded nameplate capacity for the first time since exports commenced in January 2015.

Shell has announced it will off-load a quarter plus interest in Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Common Facilities.
The company will sell 26.25 percent to Global Infrastructure Partners Australia for US$2.5 billion.The Common Facilities are currently 100 percent owned by Shell and include LNG storage tanks, jetties and operations infrastructure that service QCLNG’s LNG trains on Curtis Island off Gladstone.

November was generally a strong month for Australian LNG exports, with 6.9 million tonnes (Mt) shipped, the highest since April this year.

EnergyQuest siad the cargo was transported aboard the Sevilla Knutsen (pictured) from the Shell-operated QCLNG project at Gladstone. QCLNG cargoes generally go to China and Japan.
The tanker Sevilla Knutsen docked at Quintero, Chile on August 15 after a 24-day voyage of more than 13,500 nautical miles. Quintero mostly imports LNG cargoes from the Atlantic Basin.

The 500th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has sailed from the Australia Pacific LNG facility on Curtis Island.
ConocoPhillips Australia president Nicholas McKenna said the milestone came nearly four and a half years since our first cargo sailed in January 2016 and 10 years since the business became part of the Gladstone community.

Australian LNG is starting to experience a 'double-whammy' of lower volumes and lower prices as the impact of coronavirus hits, according to advisory firm EnergyQuest.
It says the disruption to trade with China and Japan, while not yet substantial, is most pronounced in shipments from Gladstone.

Shell’s QGC business has marked the 500th cargo of LNG from its plant on Curtis Island.
The cargo will be delivered by the Gaslog Gladstone.
