NSS unloads Caterpillar haul

Caterpillar's supply chain inventory in central Queensland has been significantly upgraded with the docking of United Heavy Lift’s marine vessel ‘UHL Faith’.

Northern Stevedoring Services (NSS) was called on recently in Mackay to unload more than 435 Caterpillar components comprising of new disassembled dozers, wheel loaders, graders and dump trucks, NSS general manager Mark George said.

"These machines are integral to our regional economy and NSS is honoured to be involved," Mr George said.

Another record for Hastings Deering apprenticeships

Hastings Deering has been swamped by a record 2695 applications for its 2021 apprentice intake after applications closed in July. 

The mining and construction support company opened applications for 40 positions in June for four weeks, with over 1000 applications in the first week alone.

The company logged a record year for its 2020 apprenticeships with figures up by 30 per cent on the intake applications for 2019. This year’s total even topped that by 26 per cent. 

The majority of applications, 595, were for Brisbane diesel fitter roles, followed by 300 for an auto electrician apprenticeship in. . .

Kobelco Construction Machinery has appointed TRT (Tidd Ross Todd) as its new crane distributor for New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and Fiji.

TRT will provide Kobelco crane customers in the Oceania region with technical information, parts supply, and sales of new Kobelco cranes.  

Announcing the partnership today, TRT said the business was excited to combine TRT’s great customer support and expertise with Kobelco cranes, valued in the industry for their high performance.
