Golding Contractors has secured a 12-month extension to its contract at Baralaba North mine, adding about $120 million and taking the work through to June 2022.

Golding has provided the contract mining services at the Wonbindi Coal-owned mine since 2018.

This includes maintaining and operating a client-owned fleet of equipment.

Baralaba North is an open-cut coal mine, about 3km north of Baralaba in Central Queensland, , producing an ultra-low volatile PCI product.

Jobs to flow as Curragh boosts mining fleet

Golding Contractors is bringing a fifth and sixth mining fleet online at the Curragh coal mine near Blackwater, generating about 150 new jobs.

The additional fleet was set to include Hitachi EX5600 and EX3600 excavators and 13 Hitachi EH4000 trucks, along with ancillary plant, the company said.

It follows a letter of direction from mine owner Coronado Curragh to increase mining plant at the Curragh main mine through the introduction of two new fleets in addition to its current mining operations.

Golding wins ASMTI civil works package

Golding Contractors has won an $18 million-plus civil works contract as part of the Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI) upgrades at Shoalwater Bay Training Area.

Golding wins $35m works package at Blackwater

Golding Contractors has won a $35 million contract for civil works at BMA's Blackwater mine in Central Queensland.

Works to be undertaken include drainage and flood protection works, relocating critical mine infrastructure and civil works for the reloaction of a communication mast.

It includes about 1, 200,000 cubic metres of earthworks, 4km of HDPE pipelines, 22km of fibre optic cabling and 21km of overhead cabling.

The work is expected to be complete by January 2021.

Golding releases the name of team member fatally injured on mine site

Golding contractors has released the name of the man involved in a fatal accident at Baralaba North mine on Sunday. The following is a statement from the company.

"We can now confirm the deceased was Jack Gerdes, an experienced mining operator, who had been engaged at Baralaba since December 2018. He had previously worked for Golding at another project for a number of years.

At approximately 1.30am on Sunday 7 July, Mr Gerdes was delivered to an excavator in the open mining pit where his task was to commence waste mining activities.

Golding expands Isaac Plains East coal fleet

Golding Contractors will add a third truck and shovel fleet to its Isaac Plains East operation after an agreement with mine owner Stanmore Coal to boost overburden removal capacity.

The increase in scope adds about $450 million to Golding's existing five-year contract, lifting it to about $950 million.

Golding adds grunt to Curragh mining operations

Golding Contractors will bring a fourth mining fleet online at Curragh coal mine, near Blackwater, adding about $50 million to its contract at the site.

Golding wins $500m contract extension

Golding Contractors has won a five-year extension to its current contract for mining services at Isaac Plains East coking coal mine at Moranbah.
