CIMIC Group shifts on payment terms

Major contractor CIMIC Group is returning to 30-day payment terms for its small business suppliers and subcontractors in Australia.

The group - whose operating companies include CPB Contractors, UGL, Thiess and Sedgman - said the policy would be implemented progressively in the coming months.  

The group came under fire late last year when UGL's payment terms were pushed out to 65 days after the month in which suppliers and subcontractors issued their invoices.

CPB Contractors to lead Greenvale ASMTI works

CPB Contractors has been appointed to deliver the first phase of works for a new Defence training area near Greenvale, with hundreds of jobs expected to flow.

Upon the successful completion of the development phase of the $23.5 million contract, CPB Contractors would then be engaged to deliver $800 million in facilities under the Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI), the Federal Government said.

The project’s construction workforce is expected to peak at 350 workers, as part of the Greenvale Training Area’s major works.

Design work will commence in early 2021 and construction of the ASMTI facilities. . .

Contractors shortlisted for $800m Defence project

The Federal Government has shortlisted three firms to lead the $800 million contract for Defence facilities at the new Greenvale training area in North Queensland.

The shortlisted companies for the managing contractor role are CPB Contractors, Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction and Lendlease Building.

The work is a key part of the Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI), which will see $2.25 billion invested in developing and enhancing training areas, to meet the future needs of both the Australian Defence Force and Singapore’s Armed Forces.
