Sedgman wins contract extension with Pembroke Resources

Sedgman will carry out operations and maintenance for Pembroke Resources’ Olive Downs Complex under a $125 million five-year contract.

Sedgman and another CIMIC Group company, CPB Contractors, have been working to deliver an end-to-end solution for the Olive Downs Complex processing plant since mid-2022. 

These additional works would extend the scope of work for Sedgman to include optimising operations, enhancing efficiency, and elevating productivity at the facility, CIMIC said in a release.

Warning to mines as counterfeit bearings revealed

Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) has revealed the discovery of a case of counterfeit involving heavy duty bearings and components on an undisclosed Queensland mine.

Installation of counterfeit components or components with unknown technical design and manufacturing specifications could pose a risk to plant and mine worker safety should they fail prematurely or catastrophically said Chief Inspector Coal Mines, Jacques le Roux.

“It was uncovered by an organisation contracted to install bearings and components at a mine who contacted a reputable bearing manufacturer,” said Mr le Roux.

Sedgman to carry out Jellinbah plant upgrade

Sedgman has been awarded a contract to deliver an upgraded coal handling and processing plant for the Jellinbah mine, north of Blackwater in Central Queensland.

Sedgman commenced the feasibility study for the plant upgrade in February this year, continuing into front-end engineering design phases and an EPC offer provided to Jellinbah Group in June.

The expansion of the processing plant will increase its capacity from 285 tonnes per hour to 500 tonnes per hour.

In a statement on the contract win, Sedgman said detailed engineering and procurement were now underway.

The project team will mobilise to site in March. . .
