Bumper capital works spend for Rockhampton

Rockhampton Regional Council has announced a record $170 million capital works program to stimulate the economy in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

The council said also that the average residential ratepayer would benefit from a rates freeze, delivered through a $70 reduction to be applied to the first rates bill when it was issued later this month.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said results would be varied across the region as a land revaluation saw fluctuations up-and-down from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Rates freeze, $65m capital works in Gladstone Budget

Gladstone Regional Council has handed down its 2020/21 Operational Plan and Budget, outlining its priorities over the next 12 months.

The Budget features a $64.8 million capital works program, which includes $27.2 million in State and Federal Government contributions.

Cairns to spend record amount on capital works

A record $181 million capital works program headlines Cairns Regional Council’s 2020-21 Budget.

Mayor Bob Manning said the record $181 million capital works program, part of a $312 million Budget, would provide a needed stimulus boost to the local economy and ensure the council continued to deliver services to a level expected by the community.

Townsville outlines major capital works program

Townsville City Council’s 2020/21 Budget will invest almost $222 million into capital works to support local jobs and upgrade and enhance vital community assets.

Restraint at heart of Mount Isa Budget

Mount Isa City Council's 2020-21 Budget includes a $29.408 million capital works component, with a high focus on works funded by State and Federal governments.
