A Glencore executive who has managed multibillion-dollar portfolios and a game-changing BMA childcare project are among the winners of the 2025 Resources Awards for Women.

The awards, now in their 19th year, are co-hosted by the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) and Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ).

The 2025 event was postponed from its regular date as part of International Women’s Day celebrations due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. 

The 2025 winners include:

• Exceptional Woman in Queensland Resources – Jackie Rose’Meyer – Glencore head of capital studies and projects (pictured at top of page)
• Exceptional Young Woman in Queensland Resources – Ashley McCarthy-Griffiths – Stanmore principal business improvement
• Exceptional Woman in Queensland Resources in Technological Innovation – Dr Nikky LaBranche – The University of Queensland dust and respiratory health program lead
• Exceptional Tradeswoman/Technician/Operator in Queensland Resources – Kylee Frankee – South32 electrical and instrument technician
• Inclusion and Diversity Champion in Queensland Resources – Chika Onyeogaziri – BHP superintendent contracts management
• Excellence in Diversity Programs and Performance in Queensland Resources – BMA childcare project
• Exceptional Female QMEA Student -Jixie Navarro – Moranbah State High School

“This year’s winners are trailblazers, changemakers and exceptional leaders,” QRC chief executive Janette Hewson said. 

“Getting to know the outstanding field of finalists this year was humbling and rewarding.  

“They are excellent role models for the diverse and rewarding careers available in our sector and we hope they inspire a new wave of diversity, equity and inclusion champions and allies.” 

Winner of the Exceptional Woman in Queensland Resources title Jackie Rose’Meyer is a leader in project management and capital studies who has notched up a career of more than 30 years in the resources sector.

Known for nurturing diverse and high-performing teams, she champions inclusivity and has mentored female engineers while advocating for workplace equity. Her commitment to sustainability and the environment has led to impactful projects in decarbonisation and recycling.

Ashley McCarthy-Griffiths, this year’s Exceptional Young Woman in Queensland Resources, is described as an influential advocate for diversity in STEM and mining.

With a dual degree in Engineering and International Business, she has led technological
advancements at BHP and Stanmore, delivering projects valued at over $50 million.

As president of Power of Engineering, Ms McCarthy-Griffiths has inspired almost 15,000 students to consider STEM careers.
