Chase Mining is on the hunt for rare earths, lining up some promising tenements in North-West Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The company this week pointed to the identification of a new rare earths and base metals project area on the northern Barkly Tableland based on a review of recent geochemical and geophysical work by Geoscience Australia.

The North Barkly project is comprised of three Exploration Licence applications totalling 1950 sq km over pastoral lands 500km north-west of Mount Isa and 150km south-west of McArthur River.

Chase Mining plans to define the sources of stream sediment metals and rare earths on the tenements by conducting more detailed sampling when the licences are granted.

The company also has two project areas in North-West Queensland under application in localities known for high value rare earths.

The three uncontested 100-sub-block Exploration Permits are in grazing country in the Boulia – Duchess area including the Digby Peaks, Canary and Prickly Bush EPMAs.

Announcing the applications last month, Chase said the source of the surface anomalies and rare earth elements appeared to be of a very young age, possibly representing a new REE mineral province.

The company has been building its presence in Queensland, entering into agreements with Auburn Resources and Prophet Resources late last year for an interest in the Hawkwood project in southern Queensland and the Croydon North and Mount Morgan areas.
